Life has this annoying and frustrating way of spinning everything you hold dear out of control. When you think everything is going well, your whole life begins to evolve before you. Challenges knock on your doorstep like the sunlight that seeps through your window every morning. You face them as headstrong as you can, but sometimes no matter how hard you try, the pain of this adversity follows you through the realm of time
Moving forward in life is hard.
You carry these old burdens around with you like that horrid, faded sweatshirt that you refuse to get rid off. Because the familiar feeling of that sweatshirt against your body cannot be traded for one of another material. It is comfortable hiding behind it. You can’t imagine not wearing it, because by doing so you’d have to reinvent yourself. And that very thought scares you. What if they hate me more than they already did? What if I fail again?
Our life spans out countless instances of moments that we wish we never had. So we carry on dwelling in the past, wishing upon a star that something did/didn’t happen. We replay the moments in our head over and over again, trying to spot a loophole somewhere. But it's useless, so we linger in the fantasy of it and let this horrible past define the present.
It is easy living in the past. It is easy to wish that something happened rather than move away from it because these memories, emotions and troubles are ingrained in our minds and ridding yourself from it is a painful process that you’d rather do without.
Pong has had her share of adversities to last a lifetime. Even today, at the age of 49, she still struggles through countless hardships. I don’t know about you, but I would think that a person with her many challenges would give up. But, no, this is quite the opposite for Jenny. Despite her difficult past and future, she faces each day with great strive.
Let Jenny’s inspiring story, be a lesson to you, that no matter how hard you have it, you can still move forward and do amazing things with your life.
Your past is just a story. And once you realize this, it has no power over you.
